Titan rockefeller book6/26/2023 I approached this book with a desire to understand the mind of a man who accomplished so much. The lives of his children is also chronicled to an extent, with specific focus given to John Jr., who inherited the vast majority of his father’s wealth and became the face of much of what we now know of as Rockefeller philanthropy and projects. Chernow obviously did his research and touches on every significant aspect of the titan’s life, including his family and business associates. Most of this is due to the incredible depth of his fascinating subject. Titan, by Ron Chernow, is certainly not a light read but it is engaging enough to keep the reader enthralled throughout the entirety of the book. Studying the life of such a man well worth one’s time, even when it involves reading a biography of over 800 pages…. came from simple means and rose to the highest echelons of power and riches in his long life.

Sue lynn tan books6/25/2023 On the plus side, i really enjoyed the character development of certain characters. it didn’t go how i thought it was going to and i felt rather dissatisfied by it. The other thing that bothered me was the ending. despite that, i still really loved the action scenes and wished there were more of them. i found the pacing to be inconsistent, resulting in some scenes being super fast paced while others bored me to death. There was a few too many ‘boring bits’ that we could’ve gone without. (although not as good, it was still a good read). unfortunately, i found that the sequel wasn’t nearly as good. because of this, heart of the sun warrior had a lot to live up to. i found it enjoyable learning about chinese culture and mythology through these books.ĭaughter of the moon goddess is one of the top books that i read last year. it’s filled with beautiful prose and world building, much like the first book. Heart of the sun warrior is the final book in the daughter of the moon goddess duology, by sue lynn tan. You can read my review of daughter of the moon goddess (book one) here.
